Our Mission:
Moms Who Care, Inc. is a tax exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We seek to support our community by promoting childhood literacy. It is our mission to provide families with books ranging in topics from childhood mental awareness, inclusivity, environmental preservation and more to encourage reading at home on a regular basis.
What Do We Do?
Readers to Leaders Literacy Workshops
What started as a school library expansion project in Les Cayes, Haiti in 2017 has become a New York based initiative. Moms Who Care, Inc. values education and understands that early exposure to literacy for the youngest of children can have a major impact on academic success. Our Readers to Leaders Workshops are intended for parents and children, to promote reading at home. During our workshop, we model effective book reading strategies intended to motivate parents/caregivers to implement story time into their daily routines. Families are given books to take home after each workshop. Your generous donations allow us to replenish our book inventory as well as allow us to give out additional educational resources.
Research shows that children who are read to frequently tend to have higher reading scores and perform better academically overall.
All children leave our workshops with diverse book selections!
We’re happy to encourage read alouds that contribute to the family bonding experience.
Community Support
In addition to our structured workshops, we also support back to school drives, holiday giveaways, neighborhood food pantries, essentials giveaways, local PTA events and we support other organizations doing great work in the community.
